Lady Jackets Fall

Knox Central spotted Williamsburg a 4-0 lead then came storming back in the bottom of the fourth and went on to beat the Lady Jackets, 8-7.
Leading 1-0, the Jackets scored three runs in the top of the fourth for four-run lead. Ashley Hamblin led off with a single then stoe second base. She scored on an error in the outfield by the Knox Central centerfielder. Sarah Smith went to second on the play. Errors proved to be costly as Brittany Reeves and Savannah Root hit into a pair of Knox Central errors.
Cara Rains hit a bases loaded single that drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Jackets.
In the bottom half of the inning, the Lady Panther sent 11 batters to the plate and came away with six runs. The big blow was a single down the first base line for two runs by Hillary Thompson.
The Lady Panthers added a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth inning before Williamsburg rallied in the top of the seventh. With one out, three Lady Jackets went to the plate and knocked a single. Jerica Stephens, Brittney Reeves and Savannah Rut all hit singles. Ruth drove in Stephens before Stanfill hit a triple to the other two runners.
Stanfill was let starnded at third base to end the game.
Williamsburg (2-2) will be on the road this week as they play Corbin Thursday and Jackson County Friday.
