Lady Redhounds win

Just off their second place finish in the Berea Holiday Classic, the Corbin Lady Redhounds got off to a good start in the Sun Coast Classic in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Lady Redhounds (7-3) came from behind in the fourth quarter to down Palm Harbor High School, 52-46.
Junior forward Katie Akins led the way for Corbin with 18 points.
The game was close throughout as Corbin eased ahead in the first quarter and led 10-9 at the end of one. The Redhounds extended the lead to two at the half, 15-13.
However, the teams turned up the offense in the third quarter as Palm Harbor outscored the Lady Redhounds, 21-16 and took a 34-31 lead into the final eight minutes.
Coach Jennifer Parsons’ team was able to grab the lead and hold on for the victory. Jamie Bonza and Heather Clouse added eight points each.
Parsons can prove that free throw shooting pays off as Corbin hit 30 of 38 from the line. Palm Harbor hit 13 of 25 as 63 free throws were shot in the game.
Corbin was scheduled to face Heritage Park of Canada in the second-round.
