Laurel deputies capture Corbin man wanted as federal fugitive

A prowler complaint early Saturday morning in southern Laurel County led to the arrest of a Corbin man, who was a wanted federal fugitive, according to a Laurel County Sheriff’s Office release.

Deputy Robert Smith, Shift Sgt. Robert Reed and Deputy Jared Hale arrested Joseph Money, 66, of Tom Town Hollow Road in Corbin, about 2:35 a.m.

The arrest occurred off Tom Town Hollow Road, which is located about 10 miles south of London.

The London-Laurel County 911 Communication Center initially dispatched deputies to a prowler complaint there.

“While conducting their investigation, deputies located Joseph Money and determined that he was wanted by the U.S. Marshal Service as a fugitive from another state wanted on federal escape charges reported to be armed and dangerous,” the release noted.

Deputies arrested Money without incident and charged him with being a fugitive from another state with full extradition authorized.

Money was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center where he was booked at 3:00 a.m., according to the correctional center’s website which lists him as a federal inmate.

Corbin Police officers assisted deputies at the scene.
