WILLIAMSBURG INDEPENDENT MEETING/FORUM 3 ADVERTISEMENT

Williamsburg Independent School District’s Local Planning Committee will be holding a Public Meeting and Public Forum on March 4th at 5:30 p.m. at the Williamsburg Independent Auditorium. The purpose of the meeting will be to review Kentucky Department of Education comments on the District Facility Plan draft. Members of the public are welcome to attend and/or address the Local Planning Committee.

ORDINANCE NO. 2025-1

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORBIN, KENTUCKY, ANNEXING TO THE CITY LIMITS OF CORBIN, KENTUCKY, A CERTAIN TRACT OF REAL PROPERTY AND ESTABLISHING THE ZONING CLASSIFICATION FOR SAID TRACT OF REAL PROPERTY OWNED BY SCOTT AND KIM KING PROPERTIES

WHEREAS, KRS 81A.410 authorizes and delegates to city legislative bodies the authority to annex territories;

WHEREAS, KRS 81A.412 provides the manner in which said annexation may be accomplished by consent of the property owners;

WHEREAS, the property owners have petitioned and consented in writing that their certain tract of real property be annexed and incorporated into the City of Corbin, Kentucky;

WHEREAS, the real property described herein is adjacent and contiguous to the present City of Corbin, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, the real property described herein by reason of population density, commercial, industrial, institutional, or governmental use of land, or subdivision of land, is urban in character or suitable for development for urban purposes without unreasonable delay;

WHEREAS, the real property described herein is not within an agricultural district as certified by the State Soil and Water Conservation Commission; and

WHEREAS, the real property described herein is not within the boundary of another incorporated city.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF CORBIN, KENTUCKY, as follows:

SECTION ONE: That pursuant to KRS 81A.412 that certain tract of real property owned by Scott and Kim King Properties, LLC located at 264 West Cumberland Gap Parkway, is hereby annexed to the City of Corbin, Kentucky and said tract of real property being more particularly described as follows:

LEGAL DESCRIPTION ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT “A”

SECTION TWO: That the above-referenced and above-described tract of real property set forth in SECTION ONE above containing real property owned by Scott and Kim King properties, LLC is hereby zoned commercial and shall maintain the same zoning designation.

SECTION THREE: That the Zoning Map of the City of Corbin, Kentucky, is hereby amended to add the above-referenced and above-described tract of real property set forth in SECTION ONE above to the City of Corbin, Kentucky’s boundaries and to reflect the zoning classifications given to said tract of real property as set forth in SECTION TWO.

SECTION FOUR: This Ordinance includes a map showing the zoning classifications given to the above-referenced and above-described tract of real property annexed and zoned herein. Said map is attached hereto and marked Exhibit “B” and is hereby incorporated herein by reference. This Ordinance and the map attached hereto as Exhibit “B” can be reviewed and inspected at the office of the City Clerk. City of Corbin, Kentucky, City Government Center, City Hall, 805 South Main Street, Corbin, Kentucky 40701, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

SECTION FIVE: This Ordinance shall take effect upon two (2) readings, passage and legal advertisement.

SECTION SIX: All Ordinances or portions thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

REQUEST FOR BID PROPOSAL

JUDICIAL CENTER PARKING LOT

Sealed Proposals for the following work will be received by the Whitley County Fiscal Court in the manner and on the date hereinafter specified for the furnishing of all labor, materials, supplies, tools, equipment, services, etc., necessary for the blacktopping of a parking lot located in downtown Williamsburg, behind the Judicial Center on N. Second Street.

Agency must submit their SEALED bids to the Whitley County Judge/Executive at the Whitley County Courthouse, 200 Main Street, Williamsburg, Kentucky, bids may also be mailed to Whitley County Judge/Executive at P.O. Box 237, Williamsburg, KY 40769, on or before 10:00 a.m. local time on March 18, 2025, at which time bids will be opened and read aloud.  Bids will then be presented to the Fiscal Court at 4:00 pm on March 18, 2025.

Bid envelops shall be marked “JUDICIAL CENTER PARKING LOT” on the front of the envelope or package.

The prospective bidder should bid based on the following information: the parking lot will require – new entrance demolition, 725 tons of DGA Base, 600 tons of asphalt base, 350 tons of asphalt surface, 850 linear feet of extruded curb, and striping of the parking lot.

Conflicts of interest, gratuities and kickbacks are defined in KRS 45A.445 and as provided for in KRS 45A.445 are absolutely prohibited.

No bidder may withdraw his/her bid for 90 days after the date the bids are opened.  Any bid received after the time specified shall not be considered and will be returned unopened to the bidder.

Whitley County reserves the right to waive any informality and may reject any and all bids. Whitley County reserves the right to award bid based upon availability, service and in the best interest for the public safety for the citizens of the County.  Whitley County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

 

NOTICE OF VACANT WHITLEY BOARD OF EDUCATION SEAT

The Whitley Board of Education (“Board”) is seeking applications for appointment to fill a vacancy on the Board representing Division # 5 for the Board. Per the Whitley County Clerk’s Office, this appointment will be effective until the November 2026 regular election.

Responsibilities include setting policy to govern the District; hiring/evaluating the Superintendent; and levying taxes and adopting the District budget. Board members must:

  • Be at least 24 years old and a Kentucky citizen for the last three years;
  • Be a registered voter in the particular District of the vacancy;
  • Have completed the 12th grade or have a GED certificate;
  • Meet all other legal qualifications in KRS 160.180; and
  • Complete required annual in-service training.
