Leland Buford Raines, 87, of Cumberland Falls Highway, Corbin, departed this life on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at his home.
He was born on February 15, 1930 in Corbin, to the late Tom Rains and Flora (Alsip) Rains.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Athena (Hamlin) Raines; brothers, Raymond Rains and Gordon Rains; and a sister, Rosa Mae Skidmore.
He is survived by his son, David W. Raines of Louisville; two brothers, Luther Rains (Evonna) of Bartlett, IL and Clyde Rains (Joyce) of Jeffersonville, IN; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Jones officiating.
Following the service he will be laid to rest in the Young Cemetery following Military Graveside Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #88 of Corbin.
