Local Baptist pastor recovering from brain surgery

Date:

A popular local Baptist minister is recovering from surgery to remove a tumor from a delicate portion of his brain, and he said the procedure to remove the growth was grueling and strange.

Chad Fugitt, who has served as lead pastor at Central Baptist Church in Corbin for the last seven years, said recently he is recovering well from the surgery, but that doctors told him patience is necessary because of the nature of the surgery.

“Everything went well. As soon as I came out, I was able to have things right physically and mentally. I was able to move properly, so I was really blessed,” Fugitt said. “I’m still in the process of healing. There was a lot of swelling and trauma because of the surgery, so they said it would take a while before I was into a place where I was mentally and physically back in sync. It’s going to take time for that to happen.”
