London woman charged with murder for killing her mother

A London woman has been charged with murder for allegedly killing her mother Friday evening in southern Laurel County.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root and Detective Taylor McDaniel arrested Brianna Rich, 26, about 9:40 p.m. Friday.

The arrest occurred after deputies were dispatched by London-Laurel County 911 to a reported shooting at a Burnett Road residence about seven miles southeast of London, according to a sheriff’s department release.

“When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Brianna Rich’s mother, Carol Rich, deceased at the scene from multiple gunshots. A 9 mm pistol was recovered at the scene. The Laurel County Coroner’s Office was notified and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The cause of the shooting has yet to be determined,” the release stated.

Brianna Rich was booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center at 1:27 a.m. Saturday.

McDaniel is the case officer.

Assisting at the scene for the Laurel County Sheriff’s office were Detective Hunter Disney, Detective Tommy Houston, Reconstructionist Deputy Brad Mink, Deputy Noah Ritchie, Deputy Daniel Reed, Deputy Matt Walker, Deputy Joey Smith, Deputy Justin Lewis, Deputy Byron Grimes, and Deputy Cody Blackwell. Also assisting at the scene were Kentucky State Police, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Campground Volunteer Fire Department, and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.
