Lynn Camp vs Clay football

Date:

They may have only had 12 players, but Lynn Camp football put up a fight against Clay County on Friday.

Despite the Wildcats 49-12 loss, the team walked off the field with their heads held high.

“Our effort was outstanding,” said Lynn Camp Head Coach Allen Mitchell. “They played hard.”

Team depth has been an ongoing issue for the Wildcats this season, but Mitchell says the guys he has right now want to play.

“They love the game, and they battled the whole night,” said Mitchell. “We came out of halftime just a couple scores down and they made some plays against us – took advantage of us being a little bit tired, but still yet, our guys kept fighting, and I couldn’t be more proud.”

The Wildcats predominantly rushed the ball with junior Conner Mabe and freshman Bentley Morgan rushing for 68 and 67 yards respectively.

Sophomore Blake Partin led the team on defense with eight tackles including three solo.

Post-season play

On Nov. 5, Lynn Camp will travel to Middlesboro to take on the Yellow Jackets.

“They’re a very good football team,” said Mitchell. “We just gotta go play it. We just got to get better with our guys and just go play.”

Middlesboro defeated Lynn Camp 47-6 on Sept. 25.
