Marjorie “Margie” Effie Morgan, 86, better known as Margie, was called home on October 29, 2025. A native of Barbourville, KY, she was born on October 4, 1939. Margie was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose love for her family was only surpassed by the joy she found in spending time with them.
Margie was a beacon of love and vitality, spending her life in service to her family. She found immense pleasure in playing bingo, watching movies, listening to music and video games, especially with her grandchildren during the holiday season. Margie was also a devoted resident of Williamsburg, Kentucky, where she created countless memories with those she loved. Her laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love will be remembered by many.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Jess Shelton and Maggie (Davis) Shelton; her loving husband, Gene Raymond Morgan; and her great-grandchildren, Kathryne Lynn Morgan and Aiden Michael Morgan.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Saundra Mae Hurst (Tony Lambert) of Williamsburg, KY, Danny Ray Morgan of Williamsburg, KY, Linda Lea Perkins (Daniel) of Williamsburg, KY, and Judith “Judy” Ann Ball of Williamsburg, KY; her grandchildren, Anthony Austin Hurst (Alexandra Campbell), Miranda Sue Wallace (Aaron), Kacie Danyel Perkins, Samantha Krystinia Perkins, Krysdan Leaann Mae Huddleston (Jonathan), James “JJ” Morgan (Charolette), Kevin Ray Morgan; 10 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Margie is also survived by her brother, Frank “Buck” Shelton of Barbourville, KY; sister, Sue Morgan of Barbourville, KY; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service was held on Monday, November 3, at the Croley Funeral Home in Williamsburg, KY.
Burial followed at the Wilson Cemetery, Goldens Creek Road, Barbourville, Kentucky.
