Maxine Lawson Sharp, age 91, of Cedar Rapids, IA and formerly of Akron/Milford, Ohio, departed this life on October 20, 2022, at her home in Cedar Rapids, IA.
She was born on July 13, 1931, in Whitley County, KY to the late George Pidge Lawson and Rebecca Faulkner Lawson.
She was a 1949 graduate of Whitley County High School. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Clyde A. Sharp of 53 years and all her siblings, Carl Lawson, Perry Lawson, Dorothy Lawson Carr, Mack Lawson and Edward Lee Lawson.
Maxine was a member of the New Haven Missionary Baptist Church in Norwood, OH and First Baptist Church of Akron, Ohio for many years. She had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The joy of her life was her family and friends. She is survived by her sons Gregory A. Sharp and his fiancée Patty Hansen of Cedar Rapids, IA; Michael W. Sharp and his wife Kara of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; sister-in-law Phyllis Lawson; three grandchildren Paul Sharp, Katie Sharp and Alyssa Sharp; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral service will be 4:00 pm Monday, October 24, at Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Lester officiating.
Interment will be in the Carr Cemetery in Yaden, KY.
Visitation will be 2:00 pm until the funeral hour Monday, October 24, 2022 at Ellison Funeral Home Chapel.
