Mays named VP and Chief Nursing Officer at Baptist Health Corbin

Sherrie Mays, MSN, RN was named Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for Baptist Health Corbin.  Sherrie joined Baptist in 1983 as a staff nurse.  In 1995, she was named Director of Women’s and Children’s Services.  Leadership for the Surgery Department was added to her responsibilities in 2001.  In 2014, with a growing surgical service, the hospital asked Sherrie to focus all of her administrative energies as the Director of Surgical Services.  Sherrie has served on multiple System Teams, including the Material Management and Standardization Team, Wrong Site Surgery Team and the Surgical Team.  She has also been an active member on the hospital’s Emergency Preparedness and Management Team and the Foundation for Excellence Committee.

Sherrie completed her Associate Degree in Nursing at the University of the Cumberlands in 1981 and her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Eastern Kentucky University in 1993.

Sherrie completed her MSN from Eastern Kentucky University in 2001.  Her professional memberships include AORN, AWHONN and ANA. Sherrie has represented Baptist Health in many community events and venues..  Her experience and commitment to the values and mission of Baptist Health will serve the hospital well in its journey toward service to our community and improvement of health. She currently lives in London with her husband, Bill Mays. They have two children and five grandchildren.  We are pleased to welcome Sherrie in her new role at Baptist Health Corbin.
