Mercy Medical Clinic hosts, ‘Back to School Bash’

Date:

Mercy Medical Clinic in Corbin stepped outside the box Saturday providing assorted school supplies as part of its inaugural, “Back to School Bash.”

Working in conjunction with Forcht Bank, Forcht Broadcasting and the West Knox Fire Department, Eric and Katie Baker, Ashley Barton and the clinic staff handed out the supplies to more than 200 children.

“With clothes, shoes, and other necessities, back to school is a very expensive time of year, said Katie Baker adding that one patient at the clinic said she was spending $50 on school supplies. “We tried to come up with a way to help and to get involved in the community.”

Forcht Bank brought the ice cream truck and gave out free ice cream. SAM 103.9 in London did a live broadcast from the location.

West Knox firefighters brought one of the department’s trucks and let the children sit in it, and even sound the siren.

Katie Baker said plans are to make this an annual event.

Mercy Medical Clinic is a family practice located in the Trademart shopping center.
