Millard R. “Ray” Hill, Sr., age 85, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, January 24, 2025, at The Willows at Harrodsburg in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
He was born on February 22, 1939, in Whitley County, Kentucky to the late Lorenzo and Rosa (Mowery) Hill.
Ray was a Deacon at Lyons Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville and a member of Zoneton Masonic Lodge #964. He retired from General Electric after 30 years of faithful service. He was a people person and loved to tell jokes where he would laugh out loud even before he got to the punchline. His stories of being raised in Whitley County, Kentucky during the depression will forever be remembered by those he shared the stories with. He loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lula (Wilson) Hill; brothers, Alfred Hill and Chester Hill; sisters, Kathleen Hill, Mae Hill and Lois Grubb and daughter-in-law, Karen Hill.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Millard R. Hill, Jr. and Randall Hill (Sarah); daughter, Kathy Carr (Sam); grandchildren, Rachel Hill, Grant Hill (Stephanie), Spencer Carr and Madeline Hill; great-grandson, Edward Hill; brothers, Richard Hill and Raymond Hill; sisters, Melda Jones, Evelene Grubb, Lovella Lambdin and Faye Sears; special friend, Barbara Stucker as well as his friends and staff of The Willows at Harrodsburg and other family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11 am at Croley Funeral Home (103 S. 2nd Street, Williamsburg, Kentucky) with interment in Canada Town Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kentucky.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 4 pm until 8 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) and on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 5 pm until 7 pm at Croley Funeral Home in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
