New Corbin Arena Director, Corbin City Pool manager named

Date:

The Corbin Arena and Corbin City Pool both have new leadership.

During a special called Oct. 29 meeting, the Corbin City Commission met in executive session for 14 minutes to discuss appointment of two employees before voting in regular session to hire long-time Corbin Arena employee Cindy Creech as the new Corbin Arena Director at a salary of $31,200 per year.

Corbin City Manager Scott Williamson noted that Creech is an 18-year veteran of the Arena, who has held various positions but has spent most of that time as event manager.

Williamson added that about 18 months ago, the Arena’s finances and bookkeeping operations were moved to Corbin City Hall.

“There have been many positive changes per our auditing firm, and we want to keep that in place. We will be running the finances continuing here at city hall,” he said.

At the recommendation of Williamson and Corbin Recreation Director Jacob Roan, the commission hired Temperance Sanders as the new pool director at a pay rate of $16.50 per hour.

She replaces Harleigh Grubb, who resigned as pool manager in September.
