News Journal article sparks donation for new Sanders Park pedestal

The crumbling concrete pedestal on which the bronze statue of KFC founder Col. Harland Sanders stands will be replaced at no cost to the Corbin Tourism Commission.

An anonymous donor has agreed to give $3,000 to repair the pedestal for the Col. Harlan Sanders statute in Sanders Park.

Tourism Director Maggy Kriebel told the commission at its regular meeting Tuesday night that an anonymous donor and stepped forward with the $3,000 to fund the project.

Kriebel said she had been contacted by local contractor Dennis Jones, with J&H Construction Company Inc., stating that the donor had contacted him to do the work.
