One person airlifted following Tuesday crash near Whitley Intermediate School

Date:

Williamsburg firefighters had to extricate a driver from her SUV following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 25W and Mountain View Lane near Whitley Intermediate School Tuesday afternoon.

Police identified the driver as Thelma Perry, whose Ford Escape collided with a 2013 Nissan Rogue.

“We had to cut both doors off and relieved the seat,” said Fire Chief Larry Todd noting that the Perry had suffered a serious leg injury.

Police said Perry was taken by ambulance to the Williamsburg–Whitley County Airport and then flown on to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

The driver of the Rogue, whom police identified as a 16-year-old female, was not injured according to police.

Williamsburg Police Officer Bryson Lawson conducted the investigation. Officer Dorman Patrick, Jr., K-9 Lt. Jim Pool and Officers Chad Foley, Greg Rhoades and Eddie Cain assisted at the scene.
