Opal Ruth Douglas Hurst, age 89, of Jellico, Tennessee passed away Monday, January 1, 2024, at Beech Tree Post-Acute and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born November 3, 1934, in Jellico, Tennessee.
Opal is preceded in death by her husband, Elbert H. Hurst; parents, Roscoe and Dora (Hawkins) Douglas; daughter, Joan; brothers, Roscoe Douglas, Jr., and Arthur Douglas; sisters, Mildred May, and Jewl Hanna.
She is survived by sons, Jack Douglas and wife Cathy, Larry Douglas, and Mark Hurst; daughter, Darla Minton and husband Larry; grandchildren, Stacy, Vickie, Joanie, Megan, Traci, Brad, Mark, Amanda, Bailey, Robert, and Jaxson; nine great-grandchildren, brother, Randy Douglas and wife Shirley; sisters, Lois Rose, Anita Milburn and husband Bob; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family to mourn her passing.
Funeral service was Wednesday, January 3, at the Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Douglas and Rev. Lester Cox officiating.
Burial will be Thursday, January 4, in the Douglas Cemetery, Crouches Creek in Jellico, Tennessee.
