Cumberland College will play in the wnners’ bracket final of the Region XI NAIA Baseball Tournament today in Lebanon, Tn. The Patriots, a 4-3 winner over Campbellsville University, will take on the host team, Cumberland University.
Coach Brad Shelton’s Patriots have successfully knocked off the number one and three seeded teams in the tournament (Trevecca Nazarene and Campbellsville).
Isaiah Ruffner went the entire nine innings in getting the win over the Tigers Thursday. He scattered eight hits while allowing only one walk.
Cumberland (37-19) was led by third baseman Chaz Gentry, who was two of four with two RBI. Catcher Chris Cartas was one of five but he hit a two-run homer in the game. Dan Guttridge, Roman Cox, Chris Wood and Aaron Ellis all contributed with one hit each.
