Local residents were able to dispose of thousands of old tires for free on Aug. 20-22 as part of the Whitley County Fiscal Court’s Tire Amnesty Program. Tires were dropped off at the Williamsburg-Whitley County Airport and then loaded onto tractor trailers and taken for proper disposal. At least eight tractor trailer loads of tires were carried off during or after the event.
