Police seize $9,000 during traffic stop on I-75 Tuesday

A traffic stop on a possible DUI in Whitley County led Kentucky State Police to approximately $9,000 suspected drug money.

According to Trooper Don Trosper, public affairs officer at Post 11 in London, the Post 11 Criminal Interdiction Team stopped Michael D. Cooley, 45, of Dayton, Ohio about 7 A.M. Tuesday on Interstate 75.

Trosper said officers determined that Cooley was under the influence of some substance that impaired his ability to drive.
Inside the vehicle, officers reportedly found a small amount of Marijuana and approximately $9,000 in cash.

Cooley was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, possession of Marijuana and failure to or improper signal.

Drug Enforcement Administration agents are working with state police and additional charges may be filed.

Cooley is being held without bond.
