Portion of Highway 26 temporarily closed due to high water

Date:

UPDATE: Ky. 26 in Whitley County has been reopened to traffic.

Whitley County Projects Director Amber Owens said the high water has receded, making the roadway passable.

However, more rain is expected to move through the area.

“If there is water on the road, do not drive through it,” Owens advised.

Highway 26 at Eatontown Road is currently shut down due to high water, according to the Whitley County Judge-Executive’s Office.

“It is currently underwater and cars have gotten stuck,” noted Whitley County Projects Director Amber Owens.

The road will remain temporarily closed at Eatontown Road until the water recedes.
