Reelin’ Redhounds: Brown fishes Bass Pro Southern Open, KHSAA state qualifier set for April 23

MATT BROWNCorbin’s Matt Brown traveled to Jasper, AL over the weekend to compete in the 2016 Bass Pro Shops Southern Open, placing 20th out of nearly 180 anglers and earning almost $3,000 in cash winnings.

Brown will be entering other Bassmaster Open tournaments in the coming months in hopes of qualifying for Elite status. He will be joining the nationally ranked Bryan College fishing team in Dayton, TN this summer to begin preparations for his collegiate fishing career.

As for the Reelin’ Redhounds bass fishing team, they are looking forward to this weekend’s Bass Federation state open tournament on Lake Cumberland. Should they come out on top there, they will qualify to compete against other teams from neighboring states in the Southeast Conference championship tournament, also being held on Lake Cumberland this fall.

The Corbin fishing team will be competing in their region meet on Lake Cumberland on April 23, where they will hope to qualify for the KHSAA state championship tournament in May. The state championship will take place on Kentucky Lake in Gilbertsville.
