Social media rumors Thursday evening about a message supposedly left on a bathroom wall at Whitley County High School concerning a plan for a school shooting are untrue, the Whitley County School District wrote in a Facebook post late Thursday evening.
“Local law enforcement, school resource officers and building administrators are currently in all of the schools in our district. This photo that is on social media was not taken in any of our schools. In fact, the tile shown in the photo is not used in any facility in our district,” according to the post.
“This is a hoax and our local law enforcement is working to determine where this inaccurate information originated from. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority and we appreciate your understanding as we work with law enforcement to determine who is responsible for this false claim.”
