RV and boat show a big success

Date:

Approximately 1,300 visitors stopped by the Corbin Arena between Feb. 18 to 20 for the Southeastern Kentucky RV and Boat Show sponsored by Wildcat RV and Marine and Corbin Tourism.

The event was the first RV and Boat show to be hosted in Corbin, but after a debriefing meeting on Tuesday, there are already plans to bring the show back next year in a bigger and better way.

“We absolutely want to involve more family style entertainment,” said Corbin Tourism Director Maggy Monhollen. “We want to add a fishing pond, fishing simulators, and maybe partner with one of our local area video game stores to maybe bring out some TVs and video games. We also want to incorporate more fishing vendors.”

Approximately 25 vendors set up for the event. Items available for purchase ranged from boats and RV’s to shirts, chainsaw carved wood crafts, Girl Scout cookies and more.

Several tourism offices from around Southeastern Kentucky were on hand to distribute information about the different tourist attractions and outdoor beauty around the area.

Monhollen said Wildcat RV and Marine contacted her office in November to ask if they would want to partner to host the event.

Together, the groups were able to host the three-day event.

“Overall the planning committee was really happy with the results,” said Monhollen. “It was a good quality show.”

“We [Wildcat RV and Marine and Corbin Tourism] are just extremely satisfied with the way that the show went for the first year,” said Monhollen. “We are grateful for the vendors that participated with us and for the patrons that came to the show. We are looking forward to an even bigger, better, and more successful year next year.”
