Corbin Police say no criminal charges will be filed against a juvenile who allegedly posted what is described as an indirect threat related to Corbin High School on Facebook.
Corbin Schools Superintendent Ed McNeel said officials were made aware of the threat Monday when several students saw the post on Facebook and reported it.
Corbin Police Detective Sgt. Rusty Hedrick said the threat was not made toward the school or any students, faculty or staff members.
“It wasn’t a bomb threat or a threat on anyone’s life,” Hedrick said.
School officials and police met with the juvenile and the juvenile’s parents about the incident.
After speaking with Whitley County Attorney Bob Hammons and Judge Cathy Prewitt, it was decided that no criminal charges were warranted and school officials will deal with the situation in house.
“The administrators at Corbin High School deeply appreciate the alertness and awareness of the student body to present this to them as soon as possible,” McNeel stated.
