Second-Annual Superhero Day event being held this Saturday in Williamsburg

Date:

A big part of being a superhero is advocating for the collective health of the citizens who inhabit your local community. Hence the idea behind the Whitley County Health Department’s Superhero Day, which will be making its return to Williamsburg this Saturday, March 23.

The Second Annual Superhero Day will take place at Patriot Park, located on the corner of South 9th Street and Hutton Way, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Free health education resources will be available from several community partners, as well as prize giveaways, food, an egg hunt and other games and activities for kids of all ages.

“Thanks to the more than thirty partners joining us for the day, this will be a totally free and super-fun family event,” said Whitley County Public Health Director Marcy Rein. “There will be egg hunts, a bounce house, food, crafts, games, hands only CPR demonstrations, and lots of resources and information for families. We will be there rain or shine.”

Rein said that children will need to be accompanied by an adult at the event, and that dressing up as your favorite superhero is encouraged. “This event is about celebrating the heroes in our community, and in our children’s lives,” she added. “We want to build resilience and community connectedness to help our children grow to be strong and healthy.”

For more information on Superhero Day, contact Ashley Lawson at the Whitley County Health Department at (606) 350-0585.
