
Whitley County’s Shayla Peace & Band performed before a live audience during the December 1 general session of Kentucky Farm Bureau’s (KFB) 97th annual meeting in Louisville. Winner of both the Whitley County and District 7 preliminary contests, Peace was one of 11 acts invited to perform at the state level Variety Showcase. The competition is sponsored annually by KFB to support youth achievement in entertainment.
Shayla Peace & Band, who performed a bluegrass medley, was awarded a $250 check for being named the district winner of the Variety Showcase.
KFB’s District 7 is a regional grouping of Kentucky counties, consisting of: Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor, Wayne and Whitley.
KFB, with over 475,000 member families statewide, is the state’s largest general farm organization. Approximately 2,000 members attended KFB’s 97th annual meeting in Louisville, November 30 – December 3, to recognize this year’s individual and organizational achievements and adopt policy for 2017.
