Sponsors still needed for Ninth Annual Kayaking for Kids race

Date:

Sponsors are still being sought for the Ninth Annual Kayaking for Kids boat race, which will take place Aug. 9 in Whitley County.

Kayaking for Kids is an annual kayak, jon boat and canoe race along the Cumberland River in Whitley County.

Last year 75-100 people turned out for the race, and organizers distributed over $20,000 in race proceeds for scholarships to Upward Basketball programs in Corbin and Williamsburg in addition to funds for school family life centers throughout Whitley County, Corbin and Williamsburg.

Whitley County Projects Director Amber Owens said that potential sponsors have until week’s end to sign up to sponsor the race so organizers will have time to get their names on the back of the race T-shirts. The T-shirts will be going to the printers early next week.

A platinum level sponsorship is $500 and includes social media advertising, the logo on ads, T-shirts and banners plus 10 race spots.

A gold level sponsorship is $250 and includes the logo on T-shirts and banners plus five race spots.

A silver level sponsorship is $100 and includes the name on T-shirts plus two race spots.

To be a race sponsor, or to get more information about the race, contact Owens at (606) 549-6000 or e-mail her at amber.owens@ky.gov.
