Sweet destruction: Karaoke building to be demolished

Date:

Another “eyesore” will soon be gone in downtown Corbin.

A subsidiary of Queens Domain LLC has purchased the property currently housing the Karaoke building, aka the blue building, beside Sweeties at the corner of North Main Street and Gordon Street.

Jim Bruso, owner of Sweeties, said the plan is to demolish the Karaoke building and turn it into a parking lot for the ice cream parlor.

There are discussions about utilizing the property to expand the Sweeties building, but for now, plans are for it to serve as a parking area.

Bruso said a bid has been accepted for the demolition, so once he communicates with the contractor, a time line for the destruction of the building will be finalized.

“We would like to get it done within the next couple of weeks,” said Bruso. “We really want to get it down for the City of Corbin because a lot of people think it is an eyesore.”
