Three Williamsburg residents are behind bars for allegedly burglarizing a local business on multiple occasions this month stealing several thousand dollars worth of power tools and merchandise.
Jennifer Lee Earls, 30, Daniel L. Jones, 24, and Christopher Ryan Hall, 28, are all charged with third-degree burglary in connection with the incidents.
Williamsburg Public Affairs Officer Shawn Jackson said that the trio have all admitted involvement in the burglary, and said that they did it to fund their drug habits.
Jennifer’s Resale at 4252 North Highway 25W in the Goldbug area was allegedly burglarized on May 10, May 11, May 15, and May 16, according to Earls’ arrest citation.
The business belongs to Earls’ father, and she allegedly burglarized it along with two others on all four of those days after stealing a key to the business, Jackson said.
She was arrested about 10 p.m. on May 19 about three hours after police began investigating the incident.
Jackson said that about $10,000 to $15,000 worth of merchandise was stolen, and that about half of it has already been recovered at local pawnshops and other locations.
He said that anyone, who has bought items from the three during the last couple of weeks and suspects the items were stolen, is asked to contact Williamsburg police at 549-6017.
"Usually, when a deal sounds too good to be true, it usually is," added Jackson.
Earls pleaded not guilty during her arraignment Thursday afternoon in Whitley District Court.
Judge Jason Price scheduled a May 24 preliminary hearing in her case, and opted not to reduce her $50,000 cash bond.
Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Dorman Patrick Jr. served Jones with an arrest warrant about 6:49 p.m. Thursday charging him with burglarizing the store on May 15 and 16.
Hall contacted police Friday morning, and arranged to turn himself in shortly after noon.
Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird is leading the investigation into the burglaries.
