Spring 2025 UC Patriots golf teams (from UC Sports Information)

The University of the Cumberlands men’s and women’s golf teams are gearing up for Mid-South Conference Tournament play at the end of this month. It has been a successful year for the Patriots so far this spring. Let’s review their progress ahead of this year’s MSC Tournament…

The UC men got the season started off right last month with a trip to Alabama and a victory in the Lawrence Tech Spring Invitational at Grand National. The Patriots were crowned champions of the event after shooting 891 (+27) over 54 holes played across three days. Freshman Saran Jantratit finished runner-up at the tournament, shooting 216 (-1), including three eagles and ten birdies.

Days later, the men’s team returned home to Kentucky and picked up their second straight tournament win when they shot 878 (+14) across 54 holes at the LTU Heritage Hills Collegiate in Shepherdsville. Junior Pedro Morgado took runner-up at the event, shooting 217 (+1), including 11 birdies.

The Patriots opened up the month of April by hosting the Patriot Invitational at the Oaks Golf Course in London. UC finished third in a very tough field of teams, with Morgado once again leading the way with an eighth place finish.

Most recently, the UC men traveled to Nashville, TN where they competed against several NCAA Div. I teams in the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate. The Pats finished ninth at the event, and are now making preparations for the MSC Championships in Bowling Green on April 28-29.

The UC women have looked impressive this spring, beginning with a runner-up finish at the Lawrence Tech Spring Invitational. Sophomore Ainslee Cruce received MSC Golfer of the Week honors for her top five performance in the event, shooting 232 (+16) across 54 holes.

The Patriots followed up that performance with an impressive tournament victory at the Heritage Hills Collegiate in Shepherdsville, shooting 908 (+44) as a team. Junior Ginerva Capo was crowned champion, shooting 218 (+2). It was the second tournament win of her collegiate golfing career, and it earned her MSC Golfer of the Week and NAIA Golfer of the week recognition.

The nationally ranked UC women finished runner-up at the Patriot Invite earlier this month at the Oaks Golf Course in London. Cruce led the way for the Pats, shooting 237 (+18) and sinking the first hole-in-one of her collegiate career in the process.

Cumberlands most recently faced an extremely tough field of teams in the Music City Classic in Nashville, TN. Despite the stiff competition, the Patriots managed a sixth place finish with a team score of 893 (+29) across 54 holes.

Same as the men’s team, the UC women will now travel to Bowling Green for this year’s MSC Championships on April 28-29.
