UPDATE: Man arrested for threat that caused lockdown at Corbin Primary

Date:

Corbin Primary School was placed on lockdown Thursday, and a local man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to Corbin Deputy Superintendent Brenda Hammons, an employee at the school overheard a threat made during an argument between an instructional monitor at the school and the monitor’s spouse. The spouse was later identified as Gary Craig, 49, of Corbin.

Susie Hart, director of public relations for the school system, said the incident, which occurred in the parking lot, involved Craig threatening his wife, but nothing specific toward the school, the students or any other faculty or staff. However, as a precaution, the school was placed on lockdown and Corbin Police were notified.

Under a lockdown, Hammons said the students do not leave the building for recess and visitors are not permitted to enter the building.

Hart said officers remained at the school until students were dismissed for the day.

Other officers began searching for Craig. He was arrested by Corbin Police Colonel David Maiden and charged with one count of second-degree terroristic threatening.
