UPDATED: Keavy man dies Saturday in tractor accident

Date:

A Keavy man died Saturday afternoon during a tractor accident.

The property owner, Charles Ennix, discovered the victim about 5 p.m. at a location off 244 Strunk Road, according to Kentucky State Police Trooper Lloyd Cochran, who is investigating the accident.

The victim, 40-year-old John White, of Corbin, was last seen mowing with a bush hog about 3 p.m., Cochran said. White had been using Ennix’s property to raise livestock.

The tractor overturned down a 10-15 foot embankment pinning the White underneath. The Keavy Volunteer Fire Department extricated White.

Laurel County Deputy Coroner Chris Vanover pronounced the White, who apparently lives in the neighborhood, dead at the scene.

Emergency officials were on the scene for nearly two hours.

No drug or alcohol use is suspected as factors in the accident. The case remains under investigation.

Other agencies assisting at the scene included: Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Laurel County Rescue Squad, and the Laurel County Department of Public Safety.
