UPDATED: Man injured after tree falls on him during storm

Date:

Corbin Firefighters had to cut a Corbin man out from under a tree that fell on top of him during severe weather Monday afternoon.

According to Corbin Police Public Affairs Officer Maj. Rob Jones, the man, now identified as 50-year-old Jerry L. Crawford, was out mowing his yard at his home on Chestnut Street about 5 p.m., when high winds knocked the tree over and onto him.

Firefighters used chainsaws to free the man, who was then transported to Baptist Regional Medical Center to be treated for a head injury. When EMS officials arrived, the man was unresponsive. Shortly after arriving at BRMC, he was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville where he remains in critical condition.

Additional details will be posted as they become available. Check back often to thenewsjournal.net/.
