Upgrades to WHS football field discussed Tuesday

The key items the district is looking at are lighting and bleachers, though more could be considered if funds permit.

The process to bring some much-needed upgrades to the football field at Williamsburg Independent began Tuesday, with the Williamsburg Independent Board of Education voting to solicit for architects who would be interested in designing such a project.

Board members were presented with a recommendation from Superintendent Tim Melton to ask for letters of interest for the possible renovation project of Ralph Prewitt/Finley Legion Field at Rose-Stanfill Stadium. However, Melton stressed this was not yet a certainty and was just the very first step in getting the wheels in motion so that more details can be hammered out.
