W’burg man run over while walking dog

A Williamsburg man is facing a DUI and murder charge after he allegedly hit and killed a man, who was walking his dog along a sidewalk in Williamsburg Wednesday evening.

Richard E. Perkins, 53, was walking his dog on a sidewalk adjacent to US25W about 6 p.m. when Adam David Childress, 31, allegedly left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck Perkins with his vehicle before leaving the scene of the accident, according to Williamsburg police.

Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley pronounced Perkins dead at the scene.
