Whitley Co. deputies, Corbin Police, W’burg Police chase stolen car Friday morning

Date:

No charges have yet been filed, but Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating following a vehicle pursuit in Corbin early Friday morning that ended when the stolen vehicle crashed.

According to Sheriff Todd Shelley, the pursuit began on Barton Mill Cutoff where Lt. Dennis Foley, Sgt. Jonas Saunders, and deputies Chad Estep and Chad Foley were working areas of increased criminal activity.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., a white Ford Mustang failed to stop for Deputy Estep, who initiated pursuit.

The pursuit continued on Oak Ridge Church Road, Fifth Street, Black Diamond Road, and Hightop Road, before ending on Davis Road.

Shelley said Corbin Police Officers Jeff Hill and Kenneth Proffitt, along with Williamsburg Police Officer Elijah Hunter with K-9 Vicco joined in the pursuit that ended with the vehicle crashing into a wooded area at the end of Davis Road.

“The vehicle had been entered by Corbin Police Department and had been taken from Red Roof Inn in Corbin days earlier,” Shelley stated.

Shelley stated more information would be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
