A Whitley County Sheriff’s deputy has been promoted.

Sheriff Colan Harrell announced the promotion of Deputy James Fox to the rank of sergeant Friday.

Fox entered law enforcement in 2013, and served as Chief of Police in the city of Lynch, Kentucky, before joining the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department in 2015.

Fox has served as a K9 handler and graduated from Kentucky’s Department of Criminal Justice Training in June 2014 with an accommodation from his instructors, and was recognized for physical fitness with what officers often call the “Fit for Duty” award.
