Whitley County Colonels volleyball season ends with final four finish

Date:

The Whitley County Colonels ended their season with a final four loss to Notre Dame.

The Colonels dropped the first set (26-24), but would take control of the second (25-19). Notre Dame would take the third (25-14) and fourth (25-14) set to end the match.

“It hurts,” said Head Coach David Halcomb. “We have six seniors who’ve dedicated four or five years to our program. They don’t know really what it feels like to hurt like this.”

This year’s seniors led the team in its final game.

Reagan Isaac led the team in kills with 25.

Jonna Rice led the team in assists with 37.

Rice and Kylea Ray Collier both recorded 13 digs.

“They’re just so close and such great human beings,” said Halcomb. “It just makes it really hard.”

The team made history this season as the first 13th region team to play in the semifinals of the KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament.

We will have a more in-depth version of this story in the Nov. 11 issue of the News Journal.
