Whitley County Health Department inspections

As part of its duties, the Whitley County Health Department conducts routine public health inspections of various entities, including restaurants, stores, schools, mobile home parks, swimming pools, etc.

Some of the most recent inspections include:

Food Establishment

• Boston Elementary School, 3291 HWY 1804, Williamsburg – 90. Sept. 30 regular inspection. Comments: employees observed not doning glove changes and hand washing between touching non-sanitary surfaces (clothing, face, etc.) and ready to eat food; part of a crate of milk in the reach in milk cooler was 4 days past expiration date; beef base in walk in cooler 13 days past expiration date and growing a mold-like substance around lid; not using proper method for wiping cloths; missing signs for 3-C sink (wash, rinse, sanitize); cooler gaskets have mold-like growth, milk cooler in dining area smells of spoiled milk and has milk spilled on inside; evidence of mice observed in dry goods room, behind washer/dryer and along base boards. Follow-up inspection required.

• Boston Elementary School, 3291 HWY 1804, Williamsburg – 97. Oct. 14 follow-up inspection. Comments: not using proper method for wiping cloths (observed Sept. 30); missing signs for 3-C sink (wash, rinse, sanitize) (observed Sept. 30); cooler gaskets have mold-like growth; spilled and spoiled smelling milk cooler (observed Sept. 30).

• Whitley County Extension Office, 4275 N. HWY 25W, Williamsburg – 99. Oct.  9 regular inspection. Comments: missing sanitizer test strips for quat sanitizer

• Subway, 2700 Falls HWY, Corbin – 95. Oct. 16 regular inspection. Comments: missing food manager and food handler certifications; hand washing sinks missing drying towels; thawing chicken at room temperature on counter; employees missing hair covering; no cold water available at back hand wash sink; back hand wash sink is leaking.

• Whitley County Central Elementary School, 120 Blvd. of Champs, Williamsburg – 100. Oct. 20 regular inspection.

• Kentucky Fried Chicken #0263, 75 HWY 92W, Williamsburg – 98. Oct. 21 regular inspection. Comments: soiled in high touch areas; standing water under equipment in drive-thru area; floors soiled under equipment; broken floor tiles and missing grout.

• Whitley County Central Intermediate School, 2940 N. HWY 25W, Williamsburg – 100. Oct. 22 regular inspection.

• Dollar General Store #31604, 1509 S. Main St., Corbin – 100. Oct. 30 regular inspection.

• Soto Hibachi Express, 657 S. HWY 25W, Williamsburg – 98. Oct. 31 regular inspection. Comments: missing blood and body fluid clean-up kit.

• Best Western Inn, 2630 Falls HWY, Corbin – 100. Oct. 16 regular inspection.

• Holiday Inn Express, 56 W. HWY 92, Williamsburg – 100. Oct. 16 regular inspection.

• Motel 6, 1891 Falls HWY, Corbin – 100. Oct. 17 regular inspection.

Red Roof Inn and Suites, 1888 Falls HWY, Corbin – 96. Oct. 17 regular inspection. Comments: structure of entry ways in poor repair; mold-like substances on wall under window in rooms 142 and 139.

• Hampton Inn, 530 W. HWY 92, Williamsburg – 100. Oct. 20 regular inspection.
