Williamsburg man dies in single-car accident

Date:

A single vehicle accident late Monday afternoon in McCreary County claimed the life of a Williamsburg man.
About 5 p.m. Monday, Kentucky State Police responded to a single vehicle injury accident on East Williamsburg Street in Whitley City.
Upon arrival, Trooper Shaler Jones discovered that a 1999 Dodge pick-up truck, driven by Robert L. Monroe, 53, of Red Bird Road, failed to safely negotiate a curve and collided with an earth embankment head-on.
Monroe received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene about 5:40 p.m. by McCreary County Deputy Coroner Brandon New. No alcohol or drug usage was suspected, and Monroe was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Croley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which at press time were still unknown.
