Williamsburg man wanted in connection to Wednesday fatal shooting in Whitley County

Kentucky State Police are searching for a Williamsburg man following a fatal shooting that took place Wednesday night in Whitley County.

According to a KSP press release, the shooting took place at approximately 11:45 p.m. at a home on Patrick Hollow Rd. after a physical altercation broke out between two men at the residence. During the altercation, Martin A. Canada, 48, allegedly shot Kyle W. Chadwell, 31, of Williamsburg.

Whitley County EMS responded to the scene, transporting Chadwell to Baptist Health Corbin with severe injuries. Chadwell was later pronounced deceased at the hospital by the Whitley County Coroner’s office. Chadwell’s body has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

KSP Post 11 is still actively searching for Canada and a warrant has been obtained for his arrest on a charge of murder. If anyone has any information regarding Canada’s whereabouts, they are asked to contact Post 11 at (606) 878-6622 or by calling 911.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Also assisting KSP at the scene was the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department and Williamsburg Police Department.
