Woodbine man charged with attempted burglary of Keavy residence

Date:

A Woodbine man was arrested outside of a home in the Keavy area where Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies found him when responding to a complaint of a burglary in progress Saturday night.

Herschell S. Sullivan, 29, was charged with second-degree attempted burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, menacing, second-degree disorderly conduct and public intoxication – controlled substance.

Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, stated that Deputies Daniel Reed, Travis Napier, Hunter Disney and Brent France responded to the complaint on T. Cornett Road, off of Ky. 312, at approximately 8:10 p.m.

“Deputies were further informed that apparently a shot had been fired and that a male subject had attempted to break into a residence not his own through a bedroom window,” Acciardo stated.

When deputies arrived, they located the suspect, later identified as Sullivan, hiding in a bush and took him into custody.

“Deputies noted that the suspect appeared to be under the influence stating that his wife and children were in the residence,” Acciardo said adding that the homeowners reported that Sullivan did not live there and they did not know him.

Sullivan was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

He is being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
