Jerry Lynn Nantz, age 77, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at his home.
Born in Corbin, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Raymond and Evelyn Nantz. He was a retired mechanic who was affectionately known as “The Mayor of Barton.” In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny, Jimmy, and Joey Nantz, and by his mother-in-law, Kathleen Owens.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eileen Owens Nantz; children, David Nantz (Sonia) of Diamond, IN, Steven Nantz (Angela) of Stockbridge, GA, and Tamara Phelps (Mark) of Corbin; sisters, Jeannie Sizemore (Junior) of Ohio, Annette Davis (Tim) of Corbin, and Jennifer McHargue (Ray) of Corbin; brother, Jay Nantz (Lori) of Florida; grandchildren, Samantha Burbatt (Tony), Brittany Gurley (Tom), Lily Brewster, Robin Disney (Greg), Amber Medlock (Scottie), Steven Nantz (Tiffany), Ryan Johnson (Kelsey), Bradley Johnson, and Ana Grace Phelps; great-grandchildren, Rowan Burbatt, Lincoln Gurley, Shepard Gurley, Landon Medlock, Grayson Medlock, Madalynn Nantz, and awaiting another great-grandchild; and by many other family and friends who will mourn his passing.
Visitation for Jerry Nantz will be held on Thursday, October 24, from 12-2 pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be at 2 pm on Thursday, October 24, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Bonnell and David Nantz officiating.
