Phillip Howard Taylor, 87, of Sharpsburg, Kentucky left us peacefully on February 21, 2025 surrounded by family and entered the kingdom of heaven to be with his Lord and savior.
A beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Phil will be remembered for his kindness, his devotion to his family, his love for music and his lighthearted sense of humor.
Born on October 15, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan he was the second of three children to Howard and Virginia Taylor and brother to Richard and Judy.
On June 17, 1961 he married the love of his life, Claudette, and remained married for 63 amazing years. They continued to live in the suburbs of Detroit where they raised three children. In 1995 Phil and Claudette retired and moved back home to Kentucky. While Phil was born in a big city he was a small-town southern man at heart and loved calling Kentucky his home.
Whether working to provide for his family or completing numerous home improvement projects, Phil’s work ethic was matched by no one. He was always on the go. He was an avid hunter, loved to fish and just enjoyed being outdoors. He was also very enthusiastic about cheering for all of Detroit’s sports teams, especially his beloved Tigers.
Later in life Phil adored watching his two granddaughters grow into beautiful young ladies and he was quick with a joke to make them laugh.
Phil is survived by his devoted wife, Claudette; his children, Rebecca (Robert), Randall and Jason (Katie); granddaughters, Bella and Abby; sister, Judy; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
We find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lasting impact he has made in our lives, the love he shared and the memories that we will cherish forever.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 11:00 AM at Highland Park Cemetery in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
Croley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
