Police arrest three for organized crime plot to steal electronics

Date:

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested three Corbin residents they say are involved in an organized criminal effort to steal electronics from Walmart.

To date, the investigation led by Det. Tommy Johnston, working in conjunction with Corbin Police and Knox County Sheriff’s Department, has resulted in the arrest of Lawrence "Lil Boy" Collinsworth of Ott Road in Knox County, Curtis Moore, 26 and Jessica Vaughn, 23.

Public Affairs Officer Gilbert Acciardo said the trio has been charged with engaging in organized crime because of the number of people involved and that the Corbin Walmart was not the only victim.

"There is evidence they were involved in other thefts at Walmarts in other counties," Acciardo said, noting that law enforcement has yet to recover any of the stolen merchandise.

The investigation is continuing and Acciardo said there will likely be additional arrests.

According to Johnston, the suspects allegedly stole televisions and other electronic items from the Corbin Walmart.

On Feb. 4, Moore and Vaughn were arrested when deputies found them in a pickup truck suspected to be involved in the thefts.
Johnston arrested Collingsworth Wednesday afternoon.

The suspects remain in the Laurel County Detention Center. They are each being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
