A former Corbin resident who had moved to Michigan is now touring the Knox County Detention Center after Corbin Police allegedly caught her with more than $1,000 worth of prescription pills and about $15,000 in cash.
Rhonda Mills, 26, of Michigan, was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found the cash along with 40 to 50 oxycontin and an undetermined number of Xanax pills.
Corbin Police Capt. Rob Jones said about 6 p.m. Tuesday, Officer Coy Wilson was called to the Trademart Shopping Center in response to a complaint of a drunk driver. He found Mills and conducted a traffic stop. During a search of the vehicle, he located the drugs and the cash, after which he called Corbin Police Chief David Campbell to assist.
I’ve got about 17,000 reasons why you need to come up here," Wilson was heard to say when asked about his request for Campbell to come to the scene.
Jones said Mills is a former Corbin resident who had moved to Michigan but had returned to the area for a visit.
Wilson and Campbell were assisted by Sgt. Shannon Jones.
