Williamsburg police interrupted an alleged burglary in progress Monday afternoon.
About 12:59 p.m., Williamsburg police received a call reporting a burglary in progress at Brush Arbor Apartments, according to a release and an arrest citation.
When police arrived, a witness told them that a male subject entered through a side window of Apartment 634 and was still inside the residence, according to the release.
Officers surrounded the residence and apprehended Jordan L. Ramey, 21, inside the residence and armed with a handgun, the release stated.
Williamsburg Police Detective Bobby Freeman arrested Ramey of Wolf Creek River Road, at 1:08 p.m. and charged him with first-degree burglary, defacing a firearm and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
Ramey was allegedly carrying a pistol inside a bag, according to his arrest citation.
The apartment’s resident told police that Ramey didn’t have permission to be inside the apartment, the citation also stated.
Ramey was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $20,000 cash bond, according to the detention center’s website.
Other responding officers included: Sgt. Brandon White, Deputy Chief Jason Caddell and School Resource Officer Troy Sharp.
