A Corbin woman who was arrested Saturday afternoon for allegedly attempting to run down a pedestrian with her car told police she did it because he had stolen money from her.
Twenty-nine-year-old April Sizemore is facing charges of second-degree attempted assault and first-degree wanton endangerment.
Corbin Police were called to the scene on Fourth Street in response to a complaint that a white car had been driving in the wrong direction and chasing a male subject on foot.
Officer Wade Mitchell responded and spoke with Abraham Flannelly, who said the driver of the 2016 Kia Optima, later identified as Sizemore, had chased him down the street and up onto the sidewalk in an attempt to hit him with the car.
“Flannelly reported that he had to jump and slide across the fender and hood of the car to avoid being run over,” Mitchell wrote in the arrest citation.
Mitchell said another vehicle, driven by Jamie Moore, was coming down the one-way street and narrowly avoided a head-on collision with Sizemore.
Mitchell put out a radio broadcast asking law enforcement to be looking for the vehicle.
Corbin Police Officer Brandon Prewitt found the vehicle on Roy Kidd Ave. about 45 minutes later. Prewitt initiated a traffic stop and spoke with Sizemore.
“Subject admitted that she was driving the wrong way, at a high rate of speed, chasing Flannelly because he had stolen money from her,” Mitchell wrote in the arrest citation.
Sizemore was arrested and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
Sizemore was released from custody on a $20,000 cash bond.
Sizemore is scheduled to be arraigned in Whitley District Court on November 22.
