R. Don Adkins, 81, of Williamsburg, passed away Monday February 13, 2017 at his home.

He was born April 24, 1935 in Whitley County, to the late Roscoe J. Adkins and the late Bessie Bunch Adkins.

Don was a member of First Baptist Church and served on the Board of Directors at Community Trust Bank.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter Sandra Adkins.

He is survived by his wife Janice L. Adkins of Williamsburg’ two sons, Tim Adkins (Colleen) of Andersonville, TN, David Adkins (Jasmine) of Lexington; five grandchildren, Racheal Rutledge (Chris), Jennifer Hanlon (Rob), Jon Adkins, Dane Adkins, Madalaine Adkins, brother-in-law, Scott Childers (Carol) of Bethel, Oh, and a host of friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held Thursday February 16, at the First Baptist Church in Williamsburg with Rev. Ande Myers officiating.

A private burial followed.

Honorary pallbearers were the men’s bible class at First Baptist Church and the members of the Board of Directors at Community Trust Bank.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Williamsburg.
